I think I'd put the side plate back on and polish it all as one unit. I'm just saying.
Oh, in the next stage I will. This stage is more getting off paint than anything. It's actually easier getting around the edges with the slide plate off for now. But I know polishing them as a unit will make it appear more uniform in the end.
